Squirrel Tails and Beer Trails at UBC Botanical Garden

If you are in Vancouver and like to experience nature, the 70 acre UBC Botanical Garden is a good place to visit. Besides the thousands of plants, there are a few interesting signs.

Now, I usually don't pay attention to squirrels, but this sign by the entrance made me think twice. The squirrels at UBC botanical gardens must be in the habit of scaring people. Why else would there be a sign on a trash bin reading "Caution: Please open carefully as there may be a squirrel inside"?

The squirrels must have been jumping out onto unsuspecting tourists. At least that is what this sign implies.

Someone sure went through a lot of trouble to print this sign and have it laminated. It must be for good reason.

That was just one of the many strange signs I've seen in Vancouver including these strange signs in Stanley Park.

Still, there are times when the signs in Vancouver are welcoming. The sign below, also in the UBC Botanical Garden, is for the Beer Trail. The Beer Trail is a small path of off the main trail loop through the gardens. No, I did not have the fortune to traverse the Beer Trail but I can only imagine what it may lead to.

The Beer Trail. Where does it go? Do they have Molson on tap for thirsty botanical garden visitors, especially for the men who's wives drag them to the botanical gardens? I can dream, can't I?

Speaking of trails, the UBC Botanical Garden is a good off-the-beaten trail Vancouver destination. We visited during a warm summer weekday and saw only 5 or 8 other people in the gardens.

About a mile north of the UBC Botanical Garden is the Vancouver Museum of Anthropolgy, a more popular destination, especially during cold weather.
